Yet I love both and I love Lisi Harrisons writing. I just have to say Jul 12, Erin rated it it was amazing. The book was sooooooooo good and it's a total 5 stars!
Thing is that the next book is out in October so if you read this you'll have to wait just like me! Feb 10, No, David! Twinkie book. No redeeming value, but a quick fun snack. Not quite as good as first one, because it lacked the new world building.
I am curious how it will proceed. Oct 14, Claudia rated it did not like it. The book picks up right where it left off, Allie J. Charlie had to deal with the problem of giving up her childhood sweetheart, Darwin, to her new room mate and best friend Allie J. And Skye is still down because of her dance teacher who refusing to even notice Skye's ability to dance and picks her room mate Triple as the class favorite instead of her.
I extremely enjoyed the description of the island and the imaginative ideas that go into some of Charlie's inventions like the mood changing nail polish! I think it's a great way to show girls how cool it is to have a creative side and area of expertise like that. I also like how it's different from The Clique by being a bit less dramatic and having a modern or future like edge.
Can't wait for the next one to come out! Aug 26, Mackenzie Morris rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites. Sep 16, Mackenzie Smith rated it really liked it. Abbott and they all go to Alpha Academy. Skye is there because she likes to dance but she is having trouble getting over her stress she is also torn between what kind of Alpha she wants to be. Charlie is there because she can October book review By: Mackenzie Smith Title: Movers and Fakers Author: Lisi Harrison I really liked this book because it is about friendship and I think that friendship is really important.
Charlie is there because she can practically invent anything, she wants to be friends with Allie even if she ends up hooking her up with her ex-crush.
Allie is trying so hard to be the best Alpha she can be she thinks that she is a princess. Yes, I would totally recommend this book to early teens because its about following your heart and doing what you want to do it also has a bit of romance but most importantly friendship.
May 18, Holly Foley Procida rated it liked it Shelves: young-adult-juvenile. Lisi Harrison moves middle school drama into a fantasy genre when she creates a new series about Alpha Island. It is a leadership futuristic community. I love the ingenuity of the setting. Both Alpha series and Clique have a good core value system of honoring inner qualities over the superficial stuff that make up most of the chatter in the books.
They are not high quality literature by any mean, but there are FAR worse things middle school kids could be reading. Although they are geared for gir Lisi Harrison moves middle school drama into a fantasy genre when she creates a new series about Alpha Island. Although they are geared for girls, if boys were brave enough to read them it would REALLY help them understand what is going on in a middle school girl's mind I thought this was a great book.
I really enjoyed how well the plot was put together and how it formed throughout the story. I liked the drama in the story, but at times I thought there was a little too much exaggeration. I'm really pumped to read the next one, but I'm hoping to take a break and read The Hunger Games!
Is my decision wise??? Hope to hear some feedback! I had no idea that this was the second book until the end. So it may have been really confusing to me but it was amazing. This book started out very boring and slow moving but then ended as a page turner! I loved it! Jan 29, Smog rated it really liked it. Jan 31, Rebekah Faith rated it it was amazing Shelves: chick-lit. Okay, so this series actually has a clear point. I'm liking it a LOT better then The Clique right now- cause well, it's just written better and the Clique just seems to drag out.
Apr 02, Tiffany Spencer rated it it was amazing. Shira has added 64 security cameras. Skye fights to find her place as Alpha in both her dance class and being the ultimate party girl but is outshined in both areas. She also struggles with her feelings for party boy Taz or poetic artistic broody Syd.
Charlie is still dealing with loyalties between her friends and Shira which cause her to reconnect with an old friend. She's giving it and is still falling short! Why else would she put her sons at an all-girl school? She knew from the jump the temptation would be too much for some of them to handle.
In the last book, I picked an Alpha of my own. It's harder to tell who came out on top in this one. Allie A Although she discovered that while you think you might want to live someone else's life she quickly found out that wanting to be AJ turned out to be about nothing. As AJ was an egotistical, phony, manipulator. Even though the message was you can't just go around stealing people's identities, I understand Allie A's reasons for wanting to start over because of a bad experience with a guy.
I think anyone can. And then it's not hard to relate either to struggling within this world where you belong and where your Alpha lies. Allie A's Alpha shone when she decided to this was an opportunity and not a tragedy to be who she was and have the courage to keep trying to make amends with the Jackie O's and Darwin. She really didn't do anything that knocked her "Alpha" down a notch. I would have probably thought the same about Charlie ratting me out. So I guess my Alpha award in this book goes to Allie A.
I was going to give it to Charlie. Charlie sticks her neck on the line for her friend's by sabotaging the system to give them a chance especially Allie A with the Brazille Boys. Which in itself wins her Alpha creed from me. But in the end and I realize the pull of a past flame she's way too quick to get back with Darwin considering the two hearts she's about to potentially break in the process. After all, she went through to try to get Darwin back with Allie A she dismisses as quickly as it takes for that nail polish she created to change colors.
I can't give the award to Skye because Skye seems like a follower. And that, in my opinion, isn't an Alpha. Alpha's aren't concerned about who they follow. People follow them. But then I kind of sympathized with Skye because I know what it's like to try and try and fell like it's all in vain and no matter what you do you just can't win at anything.
I think the Alpha male award should go to Syd for trying to bring something more of Skye than she seems to be blind too. And that's that she should keep working hard despite Mimi's verbal lashing-And then what in the world is up with that woman- I can't really blame Skye for having doubts in herself having to work with someone like that. But I'm guessing by the end of this series Mimi will give her some kind of speech about how she did it because she saw potential in her all along and just wanted to bring it out but she thought she wasn't serious just like in another book I read in the Sweet Valley Twins series called Teacher's Pet.
RATE: I love this series so much! Jul 25, Hallie Ralls rated it did not like it. Entertaining enough to pass a commute, but simple enough that it's easily finished in a day. In other words, I won't be picking up another in the series as it was, this one happened to be lying around free. I used to read some of her other books as a teen, but this one didn't even hold much nostalgic appeal. It was flat and forced, the mark of an author going back to what has made money in the past rather than fully fleshing out new characters.
Nov 22, Erin rated it really liked it Shelves: young-adult. Enjoyed: how the Allie situation was dealt with, Charlie's plotline, Skye's plotline, the addition of a surveillance system as another obstacle to deal with when rule breaking at the academy Disliked: this series is now halfway done and only three weeks into the school year?
Aug 21, Kira Moericke rated it it was amazing. Actual rating: 4. May 20, Emily rated it really liked it. I liked this book wayyyy better than the first one.
Maybe because the first was an audiobook and the narrating was irritating but I also felt like the characters had more substance in this book and made progress towards conflict resolutions. Ready for the next one! Oct 19, Hazel Leu rated it it was amazing. This series is starting to pick up. Apr 05, Kayla Plutzer rated it liked it Shelves: reviewed. I definitely like the clique more. Aug 08, Amber Hash rated it it was amazing. Another great read from Lisi Harrison!
